This trend begins from 2004, when Don Ed Hardy was produced by the fashion designer Christian Audligier. He creates a line based on the famous tattoo artist’s designs. This series is perhaps the most interesting pairing in fashion currently.
Don Ed Hardy is a tattoo artist and he has worked hard to elevate tattooing into an art team; he has been praised as the greatest living tattoo artist around the world. Hardy is good at incorporating Japanese aesthetics into American tattoo styles.
Hardy received a B.F.A in printmaking from the San Francisco Art Institute. After that, Hardy studied tattooing under Sailor Jerry Collins and in Japan with tattoo master Horihide.
When he became a permanent fixture in the San Francisco tattooing scene, he opened his own famous Tattoo City tattoo parlor. Since then Hardy started producing clothing based on his tattooing designs in 2002.
Nevertheless, it took two years to make the brand famous and fashionable. There are no one would not know Christian in the fashion world, who is one of the most respected icons in the fashion world. And he created the explosive trend for trucker hats.
The French designer also makes contribution to the success of American Outfitters, Levi’s and Diesel brand. Besides, he creates a signature brand that bears his own name.
Apart from Ed Hardy, Christian put his innovative thoughts into his other fashion brands including Smet, Crystal Rock and Paco Chicno.In such a few years, Christian has been able to make Ed Hardy being such a major success. It designs clothing for men, women and children around the world.
This DVD shows the artwork of Horimitsu including his live work in his studio. This DVD made with a cooperation of Keibunsha, a Japanese largest publication for Japanese Tattoo. Keibunsha was established to preserve Japanese traditional art “Irezumi (Tattoo)”
